Dog Brothers is a Filipino inspired self-defense curriculum based on the use of common weapons found on the street.  Known for their no-holds-barred style of full contact stick fighting, the Dog Brothers came into existence in May of 1988. Headed by three founders: Marc "Crafty Dog" Denny (the Guiding Force), Eric "Top Dog" Knaus (the Fighting Force) and Arlan "Salty Dog" Sanford (the Silent Force), it has grown into worldwide phenomenon with members throughout the USA, Canada and Europe.

A major component of the the Dog Brothers is their annual coming together of fighters known as a "Gathering".  Gatherings serve a multitude of purposes, chief among them, the tempering of new fighters through the crucible of full contact stick fighting.  And should a fighter demonstrate the heart, good technique, good character, and fighting ability, they are given a name as a rite of passage and mark of ascension within the group.

The Dog Brothers are more than 'a band of sweaty, smelly, psychopaths with sticks' - they are a brotherhood of like-minded individuals in pursuit of one goal - 'Higher consciousness through harder contact'. Training will push you physically, challenge you mentally, and help you grow in unforeseen ways. You will train with individuals who will push you, and in return, will ask you to do the same for them.

Mark "Fu Dog" O'Dell and Mark "Beowulf" Houston head our school program.  Both men are personal students of Punong Guro Marc "Crafty Dog" Denny, and have fought at Dog Brother Gatherings since 2006, logging in over 100+ fights each.  They are also "Guros" (meaning teacher) in DBMA (Dog Brothers Martial Arts) (2013), Directors of DBMA curriculum (2014) and featured in several DBMA instructional DVDs.

Mr. O'Dell is an Elder and Head of the American Council (2018).
